The base of all my leather items is superior quality leather, vegan tanned without any chemical treatment. The whole process of crafting, from the untreated leather to the finished product is done by me.
This ensures that I can work 100% made-to-order and enables me to monitor the detailing of each piece closely.

For leather items only the best is good enough.
And that naturally starts with the choice of a base product of excellent quality.
For all designs, I use a 100% vegan-tanned LEATHER. Meaning that during the tanning process of the leather, only plant-based oils were used. This process takes longer than the cheaper chrome tanning, but it ensures that no polluting and heavy chemicals are used. This makes the leather more durable and flexible. For items - such as horse tack - that have direct contact with the skin, this is very important.
In addition, I choose to work from a 'full grain' leather. That's the top - and most robust - layer of the skin. For smaller or more flexible parts that are less sensitive to wear and tear, this can be combined with leather from the layer just beneath; the 'top grain'. Both belong to the highest type of quality. The leather arrives at my workshop as a big and untreated piece. Cutting, shaping, tooling, coloring, and finishing are all done at Atelier by Erica!
